Synopsis

Flash is a 10-minute short film about a young photographer who, in a feverish dream, meets future versions of herself.  It is inspired by the life of the Russian film director, Larisa Shepitko as well as a short story by Jorge Luis Borges, 25th August 1983. The film examines the relationship between our subconscious and creativity as well as the division between woman as creator and woman as mother. Visually it takes its cues both from Godard’s Vivre sa Vie and Tarkovsky’s Mirror and as with the latter film mirrors the experience of a dream for the audience.
